Since we started this blog, it's always been a challenge to get enough posts up here. With rehearsals, classes, work, etc. etc. etc. few have time to stop and reflect on their thoughts for a blog post. So as a joke, we said dancers could write something short, even a haiku, that we could post.
Eight dancers took on the challenge of writing a Dance Haiku, some wrote more than one - and the results are pretty awesome. Subjects range from dancing in a performance to how it feels to hear music, pre-show jitters, choreography concepts, using dance as an outlet, and more. Our dancers were so creative!
To spice things up, we're awarding a prize to the dancer with the best Haiku, so read the great entries below and then vote for your favorite.
And the WINNER of our Haiku Challenge is Katherine Cota MacDonald for her haiku, "Waiting In The Wings"!!!
2nd place was a tie between Heather Dowd's "At OnStage" and Jerrica Breindel's "Lab Work."
Thank you to all of our dancers for submitting their poems and to everyone who voted!
