An upbeat conversation between two hairy sets of armpits navigating the topics of shame, hiding, exposing, and acceptance. This pieces exists within the world of a longer show called "Unkempt” which functions as a love letter to the soft mammal fuzz on our skin, a middle finger to shame and stigma, and a retrospective on why we've come to groom how we groom.

AVA D’EON ● Steeped
Choreography by Ava D’Eon
Dancers: Ava D’Eon & Sydney Dietz

"Steeped" embodies the metaphor of a tea bag to explore the social norms women must navigate when expressing themselves in various settings. The dancers reflect on what it means to be contained in their authenticity versus when they can expand and flourish, much like tea leaves unfurling in water; this expansion often occurs in the presence of trusted female relationships.

Music: “Arabesque 3” by Harold Budd, “At Last” by Etta James, “retire (final)” by Alvedon, Edited by Ava D’Eon
